last bill

D: I am sitting at my dining room table doing my bills online and I just came across something strangely emotional... my last hospital bill. It is not a secret that having a baby can be expensive. But having twins is definitely not the 2 for 1 kind of deal, that everyone thinks! I had more than twice the amount of prenatal doctors visits, which included ultra sounds every other week in the 3rd tri. And then, of course the bedrest for 6 weeks, with 3 of them in the hospital. The delivery required a team of at least 4 medical professionals present, and every time anyone even said 'hi' to either twin while in the hospital they seemed to charge us for it.

Needless to say, of course it was all worth it. I always tell anyone who listens that my greatest achievement was delivering my two healthy boys. Now looking back, 2.5 years ago seems like an eternity. And oddly enough tonight, while paying off my last bill I got a bit weepy about all that I went through to have the twins in our lives.

The twins are not babies any more, and are quickly growing into little boys. Time goes so fast; it's strange how you cherish those relics that remind you of the past... even a bill that comes every month.

Of course, I won't miss it that much :)

This note hit home for me. Our twin boys just turned 3 last Friday. Wow, where does the time go? I love your comment that delivering two healthy boys is your greatest acheivement. If you don't mind, I'll adopt the same claim. Mine was 13 weeks of bedrest with 6.5 in the hospital, but every agonizing moment was well worth the love and joy we have in our lives now.
Thank you for your blog. You inspire and encourage me, during the hard times and the fun.
