Singalongs and lullabies

D: I've become obsessed with singing to the boys. In all honesty, it is about 80% of what I do all day. Most of the time I make up songs about poopy diapers and sharing their turns being held by their momma. Occasionally a really great song will pop into my head and I get such a kick out of singing it to my children I'm forced to go an buy it on itunes. I started to make a CD for my friends with children (or soon to be) and thought I'd share it with anyone else who might be searching for some great song and dance tunes. The list below can also be purchased all at once on itunes by clicking here. How nifty is that?

What a lovely list - You are my sunshine was a favourite of ours too when our girls were babies, plus 'hey did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world'.
I can remember my dad singing 'if you were the only girl in the world' to me and it brings a tear to my eye.

Hi - I'm a mom of 6 yr old twins (girl-boy), and it's really great to remember those early infant twin days by reading your blog. We also used cloth diapers and a diaper service, and I'm so glad to find out that you are too, for the very same reasons. Our favorite covers were Nikki's (the heavier ones) and then Motherease (after they were about 1 yr old.) That being said, I really like your songlist. Another one we sing here is Hoagy Carmichael's "Two Sleepy People". My husband likes to sing "Thunderoad" by Springsteen. It's funny, but when I sing them "You are my sunshine" I have to change the lyrics from "You'll never know dear, how much I love you" to "You'll always know dear, how much I love you, for I'll tell you each and every day." This is because when I was a kid and heard this song, I always thought "WHY? WHY won't I ever know how much they love me? Won't they just tell me? Why would they keep that from me?" etc etc.

Oh, and I do like your dissection of the pre-baby attitude re: advice and the post-babiy desire to share knowledge. I still have to tell new parents about how absolutely essential a recliner (i.e. Lazy Boy) is when a kid is sick and needs their head elevated and you need to sleep!
